Sin Mui Heng had its humble beginnings as a family business in 1961. Through hard work, dedication to quality and keen foresight by the founder Mr Tay Yeong Kwee, the company grew from strength to strength. Starting off as a pork supplier to hawker centres, Mr. Tay used excess pork to make pau, and supplying these pau to coffee shops. Sales of pau overtook pork and Mr. Tay began his journey into building Sin Mui Heng into a household brand.
Dim Sum, which means “heart’s delight” or “to touch the heart” is part of the Chinese tradition of xiao chi (snacks). Most of the appetizers in a modern Chinese restaurant are dim sum. Spring rolls, pot stickers, steamed buns and boiled dumplings are all considered dim sum. Dim Sum is usually steamed, boiled or fried to conserve fuel.
Sin Mui Heng is the first company in South East Asia to automate their manufacturing process. The early 90's saw an exponential growth in the demand for convenience foods and thus SMH Food Industries (M) Sdn Bhd was established in 1995. After successful market tests, another company was set up in Singapore to serve the local Muslim Community in 1997, SMH Foods Enterprises. Founder Mr. Tay Yeong Kwee has also been conferred The Public Service Medal PBM by His Excellency the President of Singapore.
Sin Mui Heng's dedication to high standards and formal processes has enabled them to be the first Dim Sum company in Singapore to be awarded the ISO 9001 certification in 2001 and subsequently the HACCP Certification
Today, Sin Mui Heng manufactures and supplies retail products for supermarkets, bulk products for coffee shops / hawker centres as well as products for events and parties.
